Hamish Clark is a former high school teacher, management accountant, systems accountant, technology trainer, key account relationship manager, general manager and managing director - holding executive positions in a number of leading Australasian organizations in his early career years.
In the mid nineties Hamish 'caught the bug’ of entrepreneurship and has since co-founded: • New Zealand's first commercial internet accelerator • Strategic marketing and business development consultancy • Online marketing platform provider • High tech manufacturing R&D company • Two IOT development companies • US-based portfolio investment vehicle
Hamish has also led, or provided hands-on advisory services, for a range of organisations in a wide variety of sectors, including: secure intelligence; seismic interpretation; precision engineering; online marketing; medtech; risk monitoring; business process improvement; online learning; fleet management; furniture design; tourism promotion; wine marketing; loyalty rewards; digital publishing; radio electronics; govtech; performance footwear; safety systems; and super computing.
Many of Hamish’s engagements have been with earlier stage companies looking for offshore expansion. A key role was to identify companies with global potential and mold these into firm market opportunities. Key functions were to provide strategic direction and framework evolution, involving high level strategic planning, enterprise business planning, team building and identification of international market partners.
Hamish has an intuitive feel for industry trends, strong people management skills, a clear communication style, and a high degree of commercial acumen. He brings to any venture or project sound management skills and a thorough understanding of technology directions. He is a strong advocate for disruptive innovation and a passionate follower of the philosophy that the true value of entrepreneurship is "the pursuit of opportunity without regard to resources currently controlled." He is also a firm believer that an A team with a B idea is always preferable to the other way around.
